Vacuum chamber for degassing molding materials
I occasionally find the need to incorporate a technique that requires some special equipment. When I began to work with mold making and casting processes I initially used a kitchen pot with a sealed Plexiglass cover for the required degassing procedures. Before long, the inconvenience became an impediment. So I looked through the stock of surplus materials in the shop and added a few items to come up with this machine. It can both vacuum degas materials and provide a modest positive pressure to reduce gas bubble size in other applications. See other examples of shop-made equipment at the Shop Process page.
